I just got back from my mom and stepdad’s 25th anniversary party.  The last couple of weeks have been consumed with creating their memory album, which I forgot to take pictures of!  Not to worry, mom is taking photos for me, so I’ll be able to share before long.

In the meantime, here’s the project I promised before I got distracted!

Here’s just a quick post to share a card that I had worked on for last weekend’s blog hop – I still haven’t been able to get it to photograph well, but  I think you get the idea.   I really love how bright and cheery it is!

It seems that we’ve just finished mother’s day and it’s time to start thinking about Father’s Day. Tonight is the monthly meeting with a group of demonstrators that I’m part of. We’ll be swapping, OF COURSE, and tonight’s swap is a Father’s Day or masculine card.

I find masculine cards really hard to create. So, I started thinking about my Dad. He’s retired, living at the beach, building boats and hanging out on the beach watching the wildlife. I really like the sentiment in the set Sense of Time. It’s a quote by Bonnie Friedman, ” An unhurried sense of time is in itself a form of wealth.” This quote really makes me think of my dad. Living on the Outer Banks of NC is definitely a slower pace of life than I have here in Atlanta. I think he would agree with that quote. As I tend to do when I get stuck, I grabbed my go-to set Thoughts & Prayers. I used the tree stamp from it with the sentiment and some of our wonderful Designer paper – I’m still in paper mode after the blog hop last weekend! When I look at this card, I can imagine my dad sitting in the swing under the tree in is front yard, sipping a beer, and all seems right with the world. Hope you like it. (And Dixie, if you see this, don’t tell him! lol!)

Since May is National Scrapbooking Month, it’s only right that the first project I share is a 2 pg 12×12 scrapbook layout.  The pictures are of Christin and Wyatt playing at Nana’s house – hence the title  “Sunday Drivin’ at Nana’s”

These pages were so much fun to make.   I have a sneaky suspicion that there may be some discussion at NaNa’s house about who gets to keep these pages!

I love how this turned out.  It really makes me think of summer!

One of my fellow demonstrators, Lyssa (who’s also participating in this blog hop), inspired me to try something I haven’t done before:  A modified picture frame.  I picked up a plain, boring chipboard frame at my local craft store, and I ended up with this lovely picture frame, sporting a picture of the beautiful Christin.

If you don’t recognize it, the quote above is from the 1958 movie “Mame.”   Auntie Mame makes the statement several times during the movie.  I loved her character.  She was all about living life to the fullest.  She’s such a wonderful character that I find myself wishing that she was real and that I had known her.

I think Auntie Mame would have loved the sentiment of this card (it’s probably too simple for her.  she was a little ostentatious).  I love the thought and the simplicity of the card.  I hope whereever you are today, that you take some time to . . . . .  Live, Laugh & Love.

I love being thankful and I especially love celebrating!  I don’t need a reason, just being alive is reason enough.   Today’s card could be used for birthday, congratulations, or just because!

Of course, if I’m celebrating, I’m using my favorite set!  Yeah, it’s “Thoughts & Prayers.”  What can I say?  It’s my weakness.  I embossed the word celebrate and added Certainly Celery brads to jazz it up.

Now I’m off to celebrate!  What’s going on in your life that you can celebrate?  Come on!  Take a moment and celebrate something – it’ll make your day.  I promise.

I’m going to date myself here.  As I typed “It’s Spring Again”  I couldn’t help but remember the old 1938 movie “Goldwyn Follies.”  No, I was not around in 1938, but I do love old musicals.  One of the songs in the movie is Spring Again by Ira Gershwin.  The song just popped into my head and I can hear the tenor singing  ” Spring Again, it’s time for lover’s to cling again . . .  . It’s time to fall in love”    And that really fits how I feel when I look at this card.

I think of how beautiful our world is in the spring with everything in bloom.  I think of how wonderful my husband is and how much I love him.  I think of how happy I am to have my life.  So, before I get too mushy. . .  . .

Birthday card for my fil

It’s always a challenge to make a masculine birthday card.  But I think this one worked well.  It’s using the retired set Organic Grace, but it would work well with Lovely as a Tree or Le Jardin Botanique (both of which are available in the current catalog).  The silver frame around the sentiment is from the silver Hodgepodge Hardware.  I think the Hodgepodge Hardware is great for adding masculine touches to a card.   The sentiment is from On Your Birthday, which is my favorite birthday set.  There are 12 different birthday sentiments in this set.  It’s awesome!   I used the Sahara Sand,  Old Olive and Very Vanilla Card Stock, Versamark and Old Olive Ink and the 3/16″ corner rounder punch.

I made this card early in February for my father-in-law’s birthday.  I hope you enjoy it!
