Summer Mini Blog Hop!

Welcome to  Stop 9 on the Stampin’ Addicts Summer Mini Blog Hop!  Stampin’ Up’s  new Summer Mini is coming on May 1st!!!  If you’re going forward’s through the hop, you just saw all the cool things Stampin’Shell did with Rough Type, the new alphabet stamp set.     I’ve been playing with the New, Totally Cool, Really Awesome Presto Patterns Designer Series Paper!   It’s soooo cool!   It’s white paper with white embossed images.  Basically, you use it like you would any resist technique.   I’ve had so much fun playing with it!!!

The first project I’m going to share is a 12×12 scrapbook page.

Great Grandma Smith's recipeThis is a one of  my Great Grandma Smith’s recipes that she wrote out for my mom.  At the bottom is a note saying to give me a big hug.  The picture of  course is her when she was young.  When I was looking at the paper,  the thought in my mind was of pages laying randomly on a table.  That’s the look I was going for.    I used our new Log Cabin Smooch Spray on the Presto Patterns DSP for the background.  It’s got a nice bronzy feel to it.   The flower is one of our Flurettes dyed with More Mustard Reinker with a Vintage Brad in the center.  The photo is mounted on whisper white stamped with Vintage Vogue in Creamy Caramel.  I kept thinking that I hadn’t done enough with the page, but at the same time, can’t think of anything else that wouldn’t distract.   I’m going to put it in a shadow box and hang it on the wall.

Project Number 2 is a note card for a special girlfriend.

The yellow background is the Presto Patterns DSP.   I took the More Mustard and water mix I used to dye the crocheted flower and sponged it onto the paper.  It turned out really well.  In person, it’s closer to So Saffron than More Mustard.   The card base is Always Artichoke.  The saying is from Favorite Thoughts (a new Summer Mini Stamp set) and the images are from Vintage Vogue which I understand is supposed to make it into the new catty!  I used Always Artichoke, Perfect Plum and So Saffon Ink.  The brads are So Saffron.

My last project is a card I really like. . . . .

Awash with Flowers Card

Here’s a second view so you can see the shimmer. . . .

Shimmer Shot

I really love this card!  Isn’t the shimmer just so cool!  I used the new Awash with Flowers set that will be in the new catty for the flower and the saying is from Favorite Thoughts again.   The green background is the Presto Patterns DSP, brayered with Certainly Celery and then sprayed with the Vanilla Smooch Spray.   I LOVE IT!!!!   I used Not Quite  Navy and Whisper White cardstock.  The inks are Not Quite  Navy,  Bordering Blue and Certainly Celery.  The buttons are from Fresh Favorites I.

I have had so much fun playing with this paper.  I’ve sprayed it with smooch spray, brayered it with ink, sponged it with reinkers, sponged it with reinkers and water, and with a cotton ball that had alcohol and reinker on it.  All gave different looks but I didn’t have time to create a project with each, so you just got my favorites.  You have so got to try this paper!   (and I have so got to cut down on the sugar!!!)

Well, my time’s up – it’s time to send you  on your way to the next stop, which is Melissa who will be showing you a really cool new stamp set called Watercolor Trio!   Let me know what you think and I’ll see you next time!

Stampin' Addicts Birthday Blog Hop is here!

SABDbanner

Stampin’ Addicts is 1 year old!  We’re celebrating by showing you all kinds of  birthday ideas!  This is  stop 5 on the Stampin’ Addicts Birthday Blog hop.  If you’re following the hop in order, you just left Heartfelt Inkspiration where you saw here incredible Gardener’s Birthday gifts!

I’ve put together a gift ensemble suitable for a young lady featuring our Big Shot and Fabric  and of course, stamps!

Here’s the whole ensemble. . . .

Birthday Gift Ensemble

Birthday Gift Ensemble

Okay, Okay  – I know you want details and close ups – so here’s the first one.

Rag Quilt Purse

Rag Quilt Purse

I made this rag quilt purse  using the Scallop Square die and the Big Shot!   It only took a few hours to put together.   Considering I haven’t sewed in 12 years, I think this turned out pretty well.   Even if you think you can’t sew, I promise you can make this purse.

Next up, is the flower pin.

Flower Pin

Flower Pin

I used the flower folds die and the big shot to cut out the layers of fabric, hand stitched the layers together (including batting) , and finished with a Pretty in Pink Corduroy button.  Add a pin to the back and it’s ready to go.

Lastly, we have to have a coordinating birthday card, right?

Bella Bloom Card

Bella Bloom Card

I left the sentiment off of the front.   For this card, I think it’s better on the inside.  You could easily convert this to almost any occasion.

Recipe:

Stamps:  Bella’s Bloom, Bella’s Border Wheel

Paper:  Mellow Moss, Pretty In Pink, Pale Plum Textured, and Very Vanilla Cardstock

Ink:  Mellow Mos, Pretty In Pink, Pale Plum, Versamark

Accessories:  White Embossing Powder

I  hope you enjoyed seeing my birthday ensemble and I hope you leave inspired to try some fabric projects using the Big Shot.

Next up, is  Melissa who is doing cute things with cupcakes.    Click  HERE to see her wonderful creations!

2010 Occasions Mini Blog Hop!

BHObanner

Welcome to Stampin’ Addicts 2010 Occassions Mini blog hop. We’re kicking off the year in grand style, showcasing many of the products in Stampin’ Up!’s newly released Occasions Mini brochure.  These items will all be available from your demo on January 5.

If you have been following the blog hop in order you’ve just seen Holly K’s wonderful creation’s at Rubber Redneck featuring the Abundant Hope Stamp Set.  Weren’t those projects so beautiful? If you are starting the tour at my blog, you can continue on to visit all 23 participants via the link at the end of my post.  If you get lost anywhere along the way, you can find links to all the participants on Stampin’ Addicts website.  All links will remain live until Sunday evening, so sit back, take your time, visit often and ENJOY!

I’m featuring the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper.  I knew the moment I saw this that I was going to be buying a lot of this paper!

My first project is a Blessing Box.

DSCF1058

It’s a cute little paper mache box that I’ve covered with the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper and tied with our new Certainly Celery 5/8″ Satin ribbon.  I kept trying to embellish this box more, but I kept coming back to just a simple box.  It’s seems appropriate since some of our best blessings are the simple things that we often forget to count as blessings.  I tied a ribbon around the box, so my blessings won’t “float away.”  Check back on Monday to read “The Legend of the Blessing Box.”

Next I made this cute little Thank You Card.

DSCF1062

I love making Thank You Cards.  It seems I need one everytime I turn around!   This card uses Very Vanilla and Certainly Celery cardstock,  Old Olive, Certainly Celery, and Orchid Opulence Ink,  Shades of Spring DSP, Thank You Kindly Stamp Set, and the new Vintage Vogue Stamp Set.

Lastly, is this cute and simple note card.

DSCF1066

I used Certainly Celery for the card base and layered the Shades of Spring DSP.   The butterfly is cut from the same DSP using the Big Shot Butterflies Die.  I embellished the top butterfly with half pearls from the pretties kit.

I hope you enjoyed these projects!  I only wish I had more time to play!   So now it’s on to the stop on the hop,  Joyce’s  Stampin’ Central, where she’s going to show you the awesome set Vintage Vogue that I used in the thank you card.

The hop is over now, but here’s a list of links for the sites involved in case you missed it!

It’s time to party with My Digital Studio!

Blog Carnival Logo banner

I’m so excited to share some of the project I’ve made using My Digital Studio!  It’s so easy to use and the result are awesome!

First up,  I wanted to play with card, a layout without photos.    You could do this to set up your card before creating it, saving valuable cardstock, or you could print it and use it as it is, or print it and create a hybrid project by adding embellishments to it.

For All You Do Card (MDS)

For All You Do Card (MDS)

Isn’t that awesome!  I had so much fun creating it and now I think I might have to create it the old fashioned way too.

One of my favorite experiences was hiking to Havasu falls in the Grand Canyon with a group of friends.  It was 11 miles in carrying a backpack.  We camped in the canyon for a couple of days, swam in the small lake at the bottom of the falls in absolutely gorgeous blue green water.  I had so many blisters on my feet, that we rented a donkey to take my pack out, but I walked out myself.  I was so proud and so tired when we got to the top.  I’ve never scrapped any of the pics from that trip – until now.  This page shows a pic of some of us  when we got to the top of the canyon after hiking out (yes that’s 11 miles up hill).   Talk about some awesome memories.

Grand Canyon-001

I can’t wait to do the rest of the trip!

Here’s another scrapbook page that showcases a girls lunch we had on a family trip to Destin Florida.  The background is a picture of the ocean I took at Destin, and then I layered on top.

Destin 09 1-001

Here’s one more scrapbook layout – I’ve had so much fun with this.  I just can’t seem to stop myself!

Best Friends-001

I’ve posted this one before, but I have to leave you with my favorite christmas card ever – and my favorite pug. .  . . .

xmas photo-001

Hasn’t it been a blast to see some of the things you can do with MDS?   And there’s even more to see!  Check out this post for links to the other blogs that are part of the party!   And don’t forget the links are good all month, so feel free to stop by and enjoy the MDS party anytime!

It's a My Digital Studio Party!

Blog Carnival Logo banner

Starting at noon EST on Saturday, October 3,  Stampin’ Addicts will be hosting a Blog Party that will be done carnival style (this is new for us!).

The links will be posted here in this post instead of linking in a circle and each blog will have a sidebar button that will link back here to the master list of blogs. Each “Party Blog” will showcase different ideas on how to use My Digital Studio. You’ll see how to use MDS to plan traditional stamping projects, how to create hybrid projects (that use both traditional and digital features) and how to create completely digital projects. We have all had such a blast getting ready for this and we can’t wait to show you how incredible My Digital Studio is!

The party starts this weekend and keeps going until November 1st so you can come back as many times as you want during October. Be sure to join us as we celebrate the launch of Stampin’ Up!’s My Digital Studio

The Happy Holidays Blog Hop is Here!

holiday mini blog hop

Welcome to Stampin’ Addicts Happy Holidays blog hop. The Happy Holidays blog Hop will feature sneak peaks of the different stamp sets and accessories the Holiday Mini Catalog has to offer. There are 40 jam packed pages of the Holiday Mini Catalog that will fit any of your holidays needs!

If you have been following the blog hop in order you’ve just seen Ashley”s wonderful creation’s at Stamp with Ashley featuring Just Beclause and the incredible Christmas Cocoa Designer Series Paper.

I’m featuring the set Berry Christmas.  This is such a great little set of 8 stamps that includes a weath,  a snowflake, a poinsettia, a bird, holly berries and leaves,  the Make Merry sentiment and a hanger for the wreath.

I had so much fun playing with this set.  I knew I could do something Christmasy with it, but I wanted to challenge myself to do something non-Christmas.   Here’s what I came up with – a cute little box of  thank you cards!  This is a standard A2 box that will easily hold 6 cards – in this case 3 of each design.  I kept these really simple, but you could easily dress them up with some ribbon or brads.

Thank You Card Set

Thank You Card Set

Here’s the recipe for this one:

Stamps:  Berry Christmas, Thank You Kindly

Paper:  Soft Suede  and Dusty Durango Textured cardstock,  Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Soft Suede and Whisper White cardstock

Ink:  Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, and Dusty Durango Classic Ink

Accessories:  Scallop Edge Punch

Next up is a cute little gift bag because we cannot head into the holidays without lots of gift bag ideas, right?   This bag is from a tutorial created by Julie Ebersole.  I’ll link to her tutorial after the hop is over, so check back next week for instructions!

Vellum Gift Bag

Vellum Gift Bag

Isn’t this bag so fun!  It’s made with our Vellum cardstock and I hope you can see a little bit of the shimmer on the snowflakes.  Yes!  SU has shimmer paint!  It’s really so easy to use and takes so little paint to acheive the effect.  I inked my stamp with Bermuda Bay ink then applied a small amount of shimmer paint to the inked stamp using a sponge dauber.  Then I stamped the image onto the Vellum and Voila!  A Shimmery Snowflake!.    I did the same thing on Whisper White and punched it out for the gift tag.  I  sponged Bermuda Bay Shimmer Paint onto one of our 5/16″ Jumbo Brads to give a little more pizazz to the gift tag.  I’ll post more pictures and details for this project with the instructions next week.

Here’s a quick rundown of the recipe for this one:

Stamps:  Berry Christmas

Paper:  Bermuda Bay, Whisper White and Vellum cardstock

Ink:  Bermuda Bay Classic Ink, Champagne Shimmer Paint

Accessories:  Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Ribbon, 5/8″ Satin ribbon Whisper White, Linen Thread,  5/16″ Jumbo Brads, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch

I know, you’re starting to wonder where the Christmas cards are right? After all, this is a holiday blog tour and I am using a Christmas set . . . .  well, wait no more, next up  . . .  Christmas Cards!

Berry Christmas Christmas Cards

Berry Christmas Christmas Cards

I kept all my projects simple this time as I think sometimes some of us – myself especially, tend to create overly complicated plans for our holiday season.  I thought it would be nice to imagine a simpler Christmas season this year.  We’ll see if I can actually pull it off.   I’ll be playing with the card on the left again – next week come back to see it dressed up and converted from a single layer card to a multi layer card.  Gretchen B did this on her blog a few weeks ago and I’ve been dying to try it , so next week I will with this card.

Single Layer Card Recipe (Left Card)

Stamps:  Berry Christmas

Ink:  Garden Green, Real Red, Chocolate Chip Classic Ink

Paper:  Very Vanilla cardstock.

Poinsettia Card Recipe:

Stamps:  Berry Christmas,  Snow Swirled

Paper:  Garden Green, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla cardstock, Christmas Cocoa DSP

Ink:  Garden Green, Real Red, Crushed Curry

Accessories:  1/4″ Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon

My last card was my husband’s favorite of these.  You can’t tell from the picture, but this paper is flocked.  The white portion is raised and soft.  It’s so very cool to work with.

Make Merry Christmas Card

Make Merry Christmas Card

Make Merry Recipe:

Stamps:  Berry Christmas

Paper:  Real Red and Whisper White cardstock, Christmas Cocoa DSP

Ink:  Chocolate Chip, Garden Green and Real Red Classic Ink.

I hope you enjoyed my sneak peek at the new Berry Christmas stamp set! I know it makes so in the mood for the holidays!  I’m ready to light the fire and sip some cocoa!

We're hopping this Weekend!

holiday mini blog hop

Sorry I’ve been a little MIA this week!  I’ve been busy getting ready for this weekend’s blog hop!   I’m so excited to be featuring the set Berry Christmas that’s appearing in the new Holiday Mini that will be live September 1.  Don’t think it’s all Christmas around here this weekend though – I’ve come up with a project using this set that is not Christmas!  I know you’ll like it.

A blog hop is a “loop” of blogs that are connected for a special occasion – like kicking off a new mini catalog! – by easy to find links.   This weekend’s hop starts Saturday at noon EST and continues through Monday.   With all the amazing new products in this mini catalog you can be certain there will be lots of cool stuff to see.  Be sure to stop by for a party full of amazing projects!

Welcome to Stop 12 on the Bon Voyage Blog Hop!

bon voyage blog hop

Welcome to Port of Call #12 on Stampin’ Addicts 2009 Bon Voyage Blog Hop!

Here we explore Stampin’ Up!’s really fun set Big Bold Birthday .

The first attraction at Port 12 is this wonderful scrapbook page.  The pictures are from my nephew’s 4th birthday party at a firehouse.  He and all the boys were dressed in their firemen jackets and hats.  It was sooo cute.    This page shows him blowing out the candles on his cake which is perfect for the set Big Bold Bithday!

Blowing out the Candles

Blowing out the Candles

Below is a quick run down of what I used in making this page.  Be sure to check back on Wednesday when I’ll post the facing page that coordinates with this one  and share more details on some of the little touches on the page.

Cardstock:  Barely Banana Textured cs, Ballet Blue cs, Real Red cs, Certainly Celery cs; Stamp set:  Big Bold Birthday; Ink:  Ballet Blue, Certainly Celery, Real Red,  Barely Banana, Basic Black.  Accessories:  Scalloped Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch.

Our second attraction is a favor box for some lucky kid’s birthday party!   This was a lot of fun to make.  I can just imagine it filled with candy and small toys.   The card in the back has space to right each child’s name so that you can use it as a placecard as well.   On Thursday I’ll be posting the details on how to make this lovely box!
